Description: In the studied soils, acequinocyl was rapidly degraded. The DT50 values at 20°C ranged between 1.1 and 2.8 days. The DT50 value at 10°C (for a Clay loam soil was a bit higher (1.9 days) compared to the DT50 for the same soil at 20°C (1.0 days). In the studied non-sterile soils, acequinocyl was rapidly degraded. The major metabolite in soil extracts was R1 presumably formed by hydrolysis of the parent molecule. The maximum concentrations at any time point during the study in which R1 was determined in all treatments varied between 15.6 – 33.8% a.r. The second major metabolite was AKM-18, formed by the oxidation of R1. The maximum during the study was 13.4% a.r. in sand after 4 days, 21.9% a.r. in clay loam at 20°C after 2 days and 43.4% a.r. in clay loam at 20°C after 2 days. In sandy loam and silt loam, AKM-18 was not a major metabolite. The major degradation product overall was CO2. It is assumed that microbial action plays an important role in the degradation of acequinocyl, since R1 and AKM-18 were formed much more slowly in sterile soil, where CO2 was not formed at all.
