These were M01 (spiromesifen-enol) and M09 (4-carboxy-BSN 0546). M01 was formed relatively rapidly with peak formation of 28 – 85% AR at 7-14 DAT. Formation appears to be by the loss of the 3,3 dimethyl butanoic acid group. Formation of M09 was less extensive, with peak formation of 2.8 – 14.1% AR at 14 – 90 DAT. Other identified metabolites were M08 (maximum 6.7% AR at 30 DAT), M11 (maximum 2.3% at 62 DAT) and M15 (maximum 1.0% AR at 90 DAT). Two further metabolites, M18 and M19, were identified at low levels in an incubation with very high starting dose of parent material. Unknown compounds were generally found at low levels, although in the Ripperger and Hall 2001 study, an unknown referred to as M1 was found at 4.9% AR at day 0, but was not detected by 6 DAT. Mineralisation appeared to be quite extensive, with CO2 levels at 90-120 days of 14.3 – 70.4% AR. The extent of mineralisation appeared to be greatest from dihydrofuranone-labelled material, although lower CO2 production with the other radiolabelled positions may be related to relatively lower microbial populations in the soils used. Other volatile organic compounds were generally <0.1% AR. Unextracted radioactivity sometimes reached peak levels prior to day 120, indicating that further degradation was occurring after incorporation into unextracted residues.
